Johannes Stalpart van der Wiele from The Hague would never shake off the overwhelming impressions of his Italy trip. Back in the Netherlands, he cherished his most treasured souvenir: six collections of madrigals with works by Palestrina, Lassus and Monteverdi, among others. Posthumously, his own, Dutch-language versions of these polyphonic gems appear. With five voices and four instruments, Camerata Trajectina rescues this sensational Baroque find from oblivion.
Camerata Trajectina is dé pleitbezorger van de Nederlandse muziek van de middeleeuwen tot de Gouden Eeuw, met projecten die intensief wetenschappelijk onderzoek en spontante uitvoering combineren. Componisten als Sweelinck, Schuyt, Van Eyck en Schenk zijn voor het ensemble even inspirerend als propagandaliedjes van geuzen, zeemansliederen of minneliedekens uit het Gruuthuse-handschrift. Camerata Trajectina trad talloze keren op in het Festival en Seizoen Oude Muziek.
